Story Introduction:
Senbamachi, Kokurakita, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, Japan. 2019--
After leaving her foster mother's snack bar, Hasuki Natsukawa runs into some yakuza from the Hikosawa family, a local family who's been recently badgering protection payment from local businesses, including Snack Risa. Not one to shy away from speaking her mind and protecting the people she cares about, Hasuki calls them out, and a fight out on the street ensues.
Gameplay Introduction:
Swing your sword and dodge enemy attacks in this beat `em up. Build up heat by attacking to preform style switching to vary up your gameplay, and get in the advantage. Rush style lets you get the edge in and move quickly, but beware because attacks are a bit weaker! Brawler is a great middle ground, strong attack but moderate movement speed and average defense. Defend is the ultimate defense, hit hard and stand ground in the literal sense, since movement is dramatically slower!
Controls:
- Movement: WASD (Keyboard) / Left Analog Stick (Gamepad)
- Basic Attack: J (Keyboard) / Square (PS) / X (Xbox)
- Strong Attack: I (Keyboard) / Triangle (PS) / Y (Xbox)
- Grab: L (Keyboard) / Circle (PS) / B (Xbox)
- Evade: K (Keyboard) / Cross (PS) / A (Xbox)
- Style Switch:

- Brawl: Left Arrow (Keyboard) / Left D-pad (Gamepad)

Start by building up at least a bar of heat, then: - Pause/resume: Esc (Keyboard) / Select (Gamepad)
- Main menu: In the pause menu, Q (Keyboard) / Start (Gamepad)

Known issues and things I'd like to add if I have time:
- Grabbing has no animation currently, also when grabbing sometimes it causes the physics to send both the player and enemy across the map
- More varied enemies
- Boss?
- Introduction cutscene?
- More interesting placement of enemies and health items, currently just random

I could go on and on about all the things I love about this game: the sounds, the mechanics, the story/plot, the synergy among art assets, even the layout of the page hosting the game, it all is just so. good. The effort invested into this game is blatantly obvious, and I want that to be the key takeaway here.
Having said that, it could always be better, right? Here's what I think could help make that happen:
All in all: GREAT game. Additional kudos for controller support, pause button, main menu, and particle effects on style switch are definitely in order. Truthfully, everything other than the camera feels like nitpicking to me (some things more than others) because of how well built the game already is!
